Re: Intense Itching/Burning Scalp and Hair Loss

I, too, am AA Female with what seems to be the same problem. I have intense burning and itching scalp (mainly in the back but all over) so badly it brings me to tears almost everyday. My troubles first began in 2000 when my entire head of shoulder-length hair fell out within 3 months. The AA Dermatologist diagnosed the problem as: TELOGIUM EFFLUVIUM and gave me a topical steroid called Clobetasol to stop the inflammation. It's a 2-week treatment that takes that amount of time before the burning begins to subside but eventually it goes away. The problem is it recurs every few months (6-8 months) I'm sure, due to high stress levels. I've since relocated and my current dermatologist has no idea what is causing this inflammation (I requested for the clobetasol after she administered cortizone shots then suggested I get a biopsy of my scalp). I typically fast 2x a year and had hoped the internal cleansing and juice fasting would purge any toxins but there's been no change in the condition. I use only natural products on my scalp including castile soap, jason organic shampoo, natural hair oil and scalp grease, even pure virgin olive oil and aloe vera plant rubbed directly into my scalp (temporary relief). At this point, I'm done. I don't know what else to do. I truly wish to receive email from anyone who wants to discuss this further and share their experiences and outcomes. Thanks, needscalpcure.
