Re: Opposite to what most new agers do

This is actually an ancient buddhist practice called tonglen meditation and it is very powerful...some also call it loving kindness meditation. It assists in developing compassion and helps one to get beyond the dualistic conceptual mind.

Personally...I have trouble with much of the 'new age' practices. While they do provide a smorgasborg of spiritual traditions that allow people to try on various 'spiritual' shoes...there is nothing really 'new' about 'new age'...and by taking bits and pieces of practices from many cultures and traditions...it fails to go beyond much more than a shallow understanding of the real depth of those traditions that it borrows from.

The 'true mind'...residing in the heart of all of us...is so much stronger and more powerful than anyone's 'negative' energy...and this practice will certainly not throw someone's energy out of whack. The energy is transformed during this practice...as it is understood that duality is an illusion that leads to much suffering.
