I just wanted to throw in the comment that I was told at a hospital that some Sugar is essential for proper electrolyte absorption. I was being treated for severe dehydration and hypokalemia. I was so low on potassium my heart was starting to fail. Anyway I was given potassium chloride IV piggy backed with saline solution and 5% dextrose (D5W). Its much better and cheaper to make a preventive solution at home. I make something similar, but use fresh lemon juice and evaporated cane juice instead of the kool-Ade, although that sounds yummy.
