albendazole does effect flukes, particularly as they get older.
It also has cumulative effect with praz. so the dose of praz can be lowered.
There have been studies using both meds with flukes with less side effects than praz alone. what is she treating you for exactly. Was there a diagnosis? Because praz is not effective for fascioliasis (liver flukes). There are other therpeutic options avail including bithionol (from cdc) and triclabendazole from the manufacturer in switzerland. They would be willing to send it with a presciption from your doc even though its not sold in the US. There are blood tests for fascioliasis, might be worth it to check that otherwise you may be wasting your time with praz. Also, while its great that your doc is so open minded etc but how much experience does she actually have in treating this type of infection. Particularly if you have a diagnosis, you might consider finding a doc more experienced.
