We figured I'm less than 40 kilos (80-85lbs) so she prescrived one round (3,600mg) wait two weeks, repeat. I had already been on Albendazole. First was three 200mgs/day for two days, wait two weeks, repeat. After three weeks we bumped it up to 400mgs/day, wait two weeks, repeat.
However, the pharmacist I'm most in touch with thinks we should shorten the rounds, waiting more like a week, repeat.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT on the Praz. Much more severe side effects (liver? pain) - out of control. And weak as I am - I can take A LOT of pain. But this past week was pretty scary.
Die off has just become part of life for me long before the anti-helmetics (also on anti-fungals, was inititally, and still take). Die off and side effect ARE two different things/experiences, the way I see it. UNLESS the recent organ pain from Praz was actually something(s) dying. Only experienced this on the second (recent) round. Lots of nausea (tho this is common, just not as bad) the first time around. NOTHING negative with the Albendazole. Just success. I like it, but worry I've grown resistant. (Only because ONE pharmacist suggested it could be the case)
Albendazole is my favorite, but cannot be certain which is doing the job. You say take both at the same time? I can do this, but it was not exactly advised.
I"m lucky enough to have an MD who will listen and modify the agenda when it makes sense, even if I tell her that someone here said X, Y, or Z. She'll ask for links, lit, etc. and look further into things on her own. She's a thinker.
What might I propose to her next/now?
