Hi Rabbitears. I think it is pretty safe so far, but I do agree that this method could be messing around with stuff that's over-my-head so to speak.
It is only mold, in a contained and controlled environment. The fact I am incubating at body temp. makes me all the more cautious.
It is an important experiment though, because the nature of some fungi have such a chemical impact on the body system.
I have the yeast--which was not easy to isolate. It belongs to a family of yeasts which can be problematic to the immune-system, but also could be normal and even benificial.
They are defensive against certain bacteria, and undergo multiple mutations in that environment. Otherwise, they grow colonies, then suspend growth-rate and remain stable until death--about 2-3 months at normal temps. [in vitro] Shroom
