The hydrogen peroxide is probably no more than a 3% solution which would become an effective germicide only when supercharged by "cooking" silver colloid in the hydrogen peroxide and not the usual distilled water. If the local protocol is iodine, use iodine. Flash steaming doesn't mean a few seconds over boiling steam it means inside a pot and given a goodly blast enough to wilt veggies only after cutting them open to expose all surfaces. It doesn't mean waving lettuce over wafting steam but means using a steam basket or mesh inside a covered pot for at least three minutes after the water has boiled for at least ten minutes--20 is best--to sterilize. "Bugs" is a colloquial term for pathogens, germs, and Iodine is supposedly better than chlorine bleach for killing bugs, germs. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Go for the Iodine and rinse with well-boiled water to remove the taste.
