Re: Why ?
I have also developed a high amount of skepticism when it comes to the governments RDA's. These may be fine for a "healthy" individual and the minimum required to maintain life...
"kelp is not just iodine, its a whole host of minerals vitamins and other nutrients together, they all support each other and work synergistically together."
That statement right there is the difference between the safety of a whole food and a supplement. Taking an isolated
Iodine supplement, I would absolutely agree with hopinso and exercise caution. This is even recommended on the Atomadine and
Lugol's protocols. As you have noted, it is also a caution on the kelp bottles due to regulatory standards I am sure. In my opinion, kelp allows a bit more give and take with dosing as FF has stated due to the whole food quality.
I also take close to 2 tablespoons a day and it has made a noticable difference FOR ME; your mileage may vary.
I will most likely back the dose off after a few weeks to a month in order to monitor my response and assess need. In other words, this will NOT be a lifelong dose and hopinso is right in expressing concern. Our self diagnosis and treatment must be exercised responsibly.
