I assure you the water I am talking about is spring water. What I am saying is that ground water can and does affect spring water. Springs around here are tested pretty regularly and all kinds of contaminants can seep into natural spring water.
What you are describing is not a spring at all it is an Artesian well when deep earth water springs up under pressure. Sometimes these artesian wells spring forth naturally, other times they are created when a drill bit pierces the rock and releases the pressure and the water spews out. I have seen several artesian wells in different states, there is no mistaking them for a common spring, and there is a vast difference between a true spring and well or ground water.
