Re: Colonic for a desperate kid?
First, a child should never be punished, especially by physical violence, for something they may have no control over. There have been numerous reports over the years that up to 70-80% of all pre-puberty children are constipated at least once during the month, and over 50% suffer from constipation twice or more during any month.
My advice is to try to seek out a naturopathic physician to have this child examined and treated. I would also encourage you to try to find a practitioner of colon hydrotherapy to treat her if the N.D.doesn't offer it in his/her practice. I certainly wouldn't consider it to be "subjecting" the child to a colonic.
Professionally administered colon irrigation for a child in this condition is probably the kindest and most effective thing you can do for her at this point. It removes the parent from direct intervention which usually helps to calm emotional distress, and when severely constipated, a
colonic is almost always less uncomfortable than an enema.
If you do have to give her an enema at home, I agree with allowing her to observe while another family member receives an enema first to see that it isn't something horrible. I made a posting in my Curezone blog about just such an experience.
Best wishes and good luck!
