I eat sweet potatoes and yams w/ no problems. Also, legumes are good and filling as well. I like black, kidney, and garbanzos the best. I do eat white potato now, but there was a long time (2 years) that I could not. So, depending on how ill you are, you should be able to re-incorporate them later to some degree.
Some veggies are also very good at being extra filling. Brussel sprouts, for example, fill me up totally, as does eggplant. I think the parsnips you mention are fine. Beets are great for the liver, which you need in good working order to recover from this, but there is a lot of
Sugar in them so that is a judgement call. Essentially, general concensus is to start off drastic, and gradually add in these starchier things after you have been on the diet for a few months. I was SEVERELY sick, so it took a few years for me, not months. Also, make sure you are getting enough good olive oil an domega 3 fats, as that will go a long way to making you feel satiated.
