Yes, it does take some time for a person to change their view. After all, someone has to get the information before any change can take place, and then they have to decide if it's right for them. That itself should take some time. I think the support offered here is a large contributor toward a skeptic looking more closely at the information available, and ultimately making the decision to try it.
To paraphrase the quote, it's easier for people to believe a lie told one thousand times than it is to believe a truth told once. That's why people follow politicians and what they tell them, instead of thinking for themselves.
