If you are somebody who cares or somebody who suspects you may one day care, now is the time to get to know one of these seed-saver people. Monsanto has been busy buying up seed companies big and small over the years. Despite being somewhat informed on the trends in big agri, upon moving back to my rural small town home of homes I was pretty surprised and saddend to find out that virtually none of the local farmers grow heirloom corn anymore. I spoke to a few and asked them about this specifically and they literally gushed over the gm'd roundup-ready variant. Plus or minus the benefits of even eating real corn to begin with, this still hit home pretty hard with me.
