our intellect and feelings vs standing on the sholders of those who have gone before us

If we go by what feels good and right to us we learn by using our selves as initiator and editor and can blame no one for our mistaken interprtations and choices. However it can be so selfcentered to be in danger of becoming myopic. We would revel in our own success' and discoveries. Certainly a brave and powerful way to approach things.

The oposite tho is in seeking out and learning from the experienced, the adepts, the craftmasters in the subject area, makeing one's journey safer and quicker w re to what it is one is trying to achieve.
