Re: Ouch!! criticism from spouse re diet & cleansing +edit

Hi Uniquity,
thanks so much for taking the time to post all this good stuff and
caring enough to share your thoughts on the matter. I didn't mean to
ignore your post, things got suddenly busy for me just after I posted
so I haven't been able to respond. The peach/banana pie sounds delish--
will have to try it sometime! Luckily my hub does know about the dangers
of sugar--he's fairly well informed and reads, but doesn't have the time
lately to do a lot of that (we are adding onto our house, as well as
he is working his regular 40 hr./week job). But I do appreciate your
sending me the links. I had heard of the doctorwithin site. I will take
a look. He calls me "Nurse Julie" affectionately. I think he really
does appreciate most of the things I do to keep him on a healthy
track but the other night he was very hurtful--the more so because
he seldom says anything nasty to anyone, he is one of the most polite
and easy-to-get-along with guys I've ever known, if not THE (my
family adores him, even my mother, and that is saying A LOT, believe
me!! LOL). So when he says things like "I don't want to hear about it"
and calls me self-righteous, it has a lot more punch than someone who
criticizes more often. It's just the old habits thing--you do what is
easiest, reach for the ice cream every night before bed (guess it's
better than booze) and eat a burger because you only have 1/2 hr. for
lunch and didn't have the time to pack a better lunch. He just doesn't
have the motivation I have, and that is not something that I can impart
to him. He has to want to do it. Perhaps in a perfect world, if he
didn't have to work so hard (and he does work hard, harder than anyone
I've seen--after his 8 hr. job, and 1/2 hr. for lunch, he comes home and
works till he can't see anymore because it's too dark (we are adding on
some much needed space to our tiny house), with the help of a nephew who
is staying with us now. But I also wonder if he would ever do all the
things I do to stay healthy--I kind of doubt it.
Anyway, thank you for your thoughtful post! Much appreciated.
