I would say listen to your body. The worst...absolute worst thing you could do is starve yourself. Whatever that means. A candida diet is mainly a very healthy one. Albeint very limited. You must cut out all sugar, carbs, processed etc. Also anything moldy. Watch out for meat with Antibiotics or hormones. Having said that, your diet should probably consist mainly of veggies and salads, soups and plenty of water. Some beans and legumes are good for protein. Meat is a personal decision and you should follow what your body tells you. For instance , if you find that eating all veggie and salads makes you tired and weak and adding animal protein helps, than animal protein is what you should eat. There is no hard and fast rule here.
The are as many cures for candida as there are people that have it. And every body will require something else. For some meat is a necessity, for others it makes it worse. It more than likely depends on your digestion. If your digestion is bad, meat could be of detriment.
But if minerals , proteins and fats are your problem , then meat might be good.
Overall, I have been reading a very interesting study on animal protein and researchers have it as the catalyst in causing cancer to grow in rats, mice and humans. A very extensive study done for 28 years. I have alot yet to read. But it turns out that eating animal protein ( any protein really) causes the body to regenerate cells ( that could be very good for candida) however animal protein in too large a percentage of the diet...say more than 10 % has been found to actually start helping the cancer cells regenerate...quickly. Very interesting stuff. So , in cocclusion to that part of the book, eating anywhere from 5-10% could be of benefit, eating more could cause cancer cells damaged by toxins we are all exposed to , to become active.
It comes down to what Benjamin Franklin said ions ago..."All things in moderation"
I would add to just listen to what your body is telling you. This diet is not permanent. It is temporary diet to weaken candida. Even though it is probably a million times healthier than a standard diet. Point is , you will not have to do it forever. So if esaing more meat is what you need to get through it physically, then go for it. Just be mindful.
