I agree with that plan. That is what I was doing in the beginning, then I plateau, because I wasn't hungry all day until around 4pm before that I would just drink water, then I made changes and started to eat when I became hungry only adding to 300 to 500 calories a day but spread throughout the day. Like my first meal would be around 11 or 12 noon my grilled cheese spinach, then depending on if I was still hungry or not, I would eat at 2 or 3 fruit salad or string cheese then 4 to 5 my soyburger salad or baked fish and veggies, etc. But it never went over 500 calories per day, and it kept my metabolism going throughout the day because every so couple of hours I was adding "fuel" and it was releasing that fat to burn and not holding on to it wondering when its next meal was coming. That broke my first plateau. Today I'm going to start with water most of the morning, and have a soy protein shake at lunch, then hopefully a salad at dinner..way below 200, but after eating out with my husband last night, I know my body will sustain.
