Thanks for your responses, everyone. Lots of food for thought there (really, no pun intended). Pepe, your reasoning makes a lot of sense and the amounts you all describe sound doable as well. (Also the ginger-apple-carrot combo sounds delicious!) Maybe if I can get back to the States over the holidays I'll be able to scout one down used and fly it back here to Spain with me. Pick it yourself farms are not yet in vogue here in Spain, sadly, but the fruits and veggies are good and flavorful. I usually eat about five to seven of them per day :)

the only thing I am now a little confused about is digestion. Isn't eating raw fruits and veggies supposed to make them easier to digest than cooking them, since they will still have their digestive enzymes in them that way? Or is raw food harder to digest? So many questions- keep in touch and have a good night!
