I restrained myself when you posted about this in the atheist support forum, but now that you've brought it into a debate forum, the gloves have to come off.
How does discovering that hobbits existed "prove" (or even advance the idea of) evolution? Tolkien's explanation for the creation of races (in The Silmarillion, I believe) does a better job of explaining this find than does evolution. After all, "God willed it" or "the gods willed it" or what have you is just about the simplest explanation for anything in creation (may Occam rest in peace).
