Thanks for the explanation that this was not the way you ate on atkins. Though I don't understand why you would lose wait on atkins and then go vegetarian to maintain. were you eating vegetarian before atkins? I still think you may not have done atkins correctly. You said 5 to 10 carbs per day. That may not be enough. Did you follow recipes from the book such as 3 eggs and cheese for breakfast, 8oz. steak with salad for lunch and fish or other protein with salad or veggie for dinner?? That is a lot of protein and yu may have tried too hard to eat less food in general. Dr. atkins new diet revolution says on page 123 To eat LIBERALY of fat and protein in the form of poultry, fish, shellfish, eggs,and red meat, as well as pure natural fatin the form of butter, mayonaise, olive oil etc. [i would omit the veg. oils].Cholesteral may rise in the first month or so. What was the breakdown of your nos.?Did the tryglides go down? Are you taking the proper vitamins? If you are eating veg. you need a lot of essential fatty acids, b vit. especially b12 and the fat soluable ones. By the way, if you didn't have too much to lose you tend to lose slower. you did great in the weight loss. I'm just puzzled as to the cholesteral readings. So hope you can maybe analize and go over the book again and see what you may have missed. Sorry this is so long but am just trying to see if I can help figure this out. There are not many people that don't do well on this. If you are one of those I hope you find the way. I know that atkins will suggest a 'fat diet" if one fails to lose weight but don't think that would pertain to cholesterol levels. Thanks for listening and hope this helps. take care Margie
