My cholesterol went sky-high from 4 months on the Atkins Diet: from 225 to 400. I did not want to damage my blood vessels, I just wanted to lose 10 pounds. And the weight was really slow coming off. I went from 127 to 116 and I have maintained my weight loss for 5 months, using a near vegetarian diet with occasional fish or more frequently chichen or turkey. It really makes me mad that no where in the book did I read that my cholesterol might go up. In fact, I remember it saying just the opposite.
