Re: HIGH Cholesterol from Atkins

Did you read the Atkins diet book? You are not doing the Atkins diet, you are doing the vegetarian mainstream diet that will raise cholestoral. You need to eat protein in a much greater amount. More meat and good fat. Use butter and olive oil or coconut oil [no transfats]. The fat you get from eating meat will be good for you. Too many people still have the idea that meat and fat are bad, but that is what will lower your cholestoral. tryglicerides are the most important to lower and they should go down considerably, which is still the best thing to lower. You may find that the "bad" cholesterol will go up, but if you read atkins, there is a component of this that is not bad and is usualy what goes up and is not harmful. [the dr. may not want to check for it ,though] It does seem strange to eat eggs[the most healthy food there is] and meat and lose weight. Just stay away from the carbs!!!!! If you do it right it will work
