Re: Chronic Constipation In Toddler
Hello uvagirl1996, I've treated several children with similar difficulties during the past 10 years, and the longer this condition continues, the more difficult it becomes to resolve.
Have you tried a Fleet
Oil Enema for him? When retained for at least an hour (or better overnight), it can soften the stool and make it easier for him to have a bm. You can also fill a 4
oz infant bulb syringe with olive oil and use that. With either, let it sit in a sink filled with hot water until it is warmed to about body temperature.
The
Oil Enema is small enough and soothing such that he won't feel any discomfort. It can be a bit messy though, so be sure his diaper is snug after administering the enema. I wouldn't recommend an oral colon cleanser at his age.
Good luck!
