Hello there Laura, I would like to tell you a little about my self. I am a 28 year old and have a rod from my neck down to my tail bone. I had the rod pit in by back sice 1991 and have been in pain all my life. I have been through pt and get massages done but it gets to be allot of money when you don't work. I have been on pain pills since 1991 but of course I can't go back to my surgen because they don't take my insurance and so there for I am in the same boat as everyone out there. I have been in allot of pain in the lower back for about a week or even 2 weeks now. I go to the family doc and the say the same thing over and over. Here is what I do for the pain.( there is nothing more they can do for me)
1. use ice on the lower back for 10 min when there is swelling
2. use heating blanket every night for sorenes
3. I take pain pills since 1991 and now they just seem to ware off easy
4. I use a tens unit and it seens to help for a little while
6. I do go for shots once a month and I get shots in my lower
7. I get hot shower and that seems to help the pain. I even get a shower at 2or3 in the am
back and it does help for about 2 weeks and then I am ready to pull my rod out if you know what I mean or I cry
5. I put a pillow under my legs when I am laying on the floor or on the couch. I have a hospital bed and I lift it up so high because it takes off the presser in the lower back. If you don't have a hospital bed then just use a pillow or 2 it works both ways
I have other heath prblems like heart,asthma,and so on
I have 2 deaf parents and I have to pay my own bills, buy my own food, So if you could be of any help please email me at rozancj@access995.com
I have to tell you doing sit ups are a very bad thing to do. if you have a fax number were I can fax you some work out sheet that I do I will be more than happy to do so. I know how you feel because I am going though the same pain as you and everyone else out there. I will say a prayer for you and just maybe you will have a good week and weekend with out being in pain.
