Then after reading that page click on the link near the top of that page called "the salt" and read that too. That will give you the general idea.
I am a salt novice but as far as I know that does include salt you cook with (experts, please correct me if I am wrong), although I read it is better to add it to your food after cooking and to not heat the salt itself. You can mix it in the water too, or I read some people put it on their tongue before drinking their water.
I can't comment on your cancer condition and the use of salt. Perhaps somebody else can.
