been there... done that...
you are trying to hard... God is not lost... you are... the harder you try to find God the more lost you will become... the answer then... is to... let go... and let God...
we all think that the answers are "out there"... that "God" is "out there"... when all along He is right there with you... within your heart... and always was... and always will be... so it's simply a case of learning to "be still"... the answers you seek will come from within... you will gain more from what you are able to let go of... (which means you should quit dragging around all your smelly garbage... it stinks... so let go of it)... learn to live in the moment... stay away from the negatives of the past and the fears of the future... just stay in the moment... and you really do need to understand the "ego"... so let me try to help you a little... if i can...
there's a book i read... "love is letting go of fear"... by gerald jampolski... the main thing i learned from reading it was to be able to distinguish between "ego" and "spirit"...
in this book he states that there are two basic emotions... "love" and "fear"... "love" is "spiritual"... "fear" is always connected to the "ego"... everything "positive"... is "spiritual"... everything "negative" is always connected to the "ego"...
spend time in prayer... meditation... and self examination... when you pray... pray only to try to help others... not for yourself... try to see where you are being... or have been... selfish... selfishness is a sure sign that the "ego" is in charge... self-pity... guilt... shame... remorse... regret... resentments... anger... irritation... frustration... these are all feelings that are triggered by the "ego"...so simple become aware of your feelings and emotions... become aware of the "ego"...
also... one main ingredient needed to be able to feel the nearness of God... is "forgiveness"... unless you can forgive everyone of everything you will never be able to find forgiveness for yourself... when you are able to forgive others you will be forgiven...it's a spiritual paradox that works... but... the main thing is that when you hold resentments against anyone for any reason you are holding them spiritual prisoners... and as long as you are holding them prisoner then that makes you the jailer... in which case you are just as much a prisoner as the person you resent... so open the cell doors and let all the prisoners go free and you can walk away to freedom yourself...
uhoh... i think i've written a book here... ;-)
mr. rogers was right along... "it is a wonderful day in the neighborhood"...
lol...
;-)
