in fact, there is a world of evidence that not only is the reason for circumcision totally different today(what spiritual good is being mutilated without your permission or even knowledge?), the circumcision today, because of the reasons for it - ie to curtail self-gratification by decreasing penile pleasure sensations - is much more radical than what was originally done. the jews do a more radical circumcision than they used to as well because people were able to stretch the skin a little and they could be covert about their lineage for fear of persecution or whatever.

circumcision is butchery today and has nothing to do with god and everything to do with mans cruelty to man. besides, the new testament makes clear the allegory of the circumcision, but that much more important lesson about the heart is lost on folk. its easier just to put on a show and present an appearance than it is to actually repent.
