Re: tips from someone not yet 50

Cold is yin, hot is yang

if you have an infection or fever, hot, heat, yang, you want to apply yin, cold to slow it down or more yang heat to bring it to a high heat, head, to break it up. yin is cold diffuse expansive, it slows things down. yang is hot, contracting, it heats things up. ying turns into yang and yang turns into ying in a cycle. If you are too cold, yin empty, the remedy is yang, warm, heat, warming yang foods or add cayenne.
the chinese have a whole medical science of hot and cold ying and yang.
you want to try to keep everyting in balance.
you use extreme hot or cold to balance extreme ying and yang, hot and cold conditiomns in the humours, the body, and that is how the nei ching doctors achieve balance homostasis and wellness. ying and yang, hot and cold, expansion and contraction in balance to keep a good flow of the body systems.
