Zapper harmonic frequencies
I posted this in the
Zapper Support Forum , because that is the first forum I found related to Zappers, and got spanked for being a Troll. I tried to email the
Webmaster about it, and the email got bounced. So here I am. If this is the wrong place for questions such as this (and I have more), please don't beat me up. A list of more appropriate forums, or links to them, would be nice. Thanks.
A simple Fourier analysis of the original Zapper circuit output shows that there are only around 15 harmonics contained within the bandwidth usually discussed (33KHz to around 500KHz). This is not a very "rich" harmonic field, especially when you consider that the energies of the even harmonics are way lower than those of the odd harmonics. Has anyone addressed the huge gaps in the spectrum, and how there is no energy whatsoever at most
parasite frequencies?
And another thing... The output from a symmetrical square wave oscillator circuit, such as the that on the Zapperplans website, has *half* the harmonics of the output from the "traditional" 555 circuit (if they are both running at 30KHz or so). Anybody want to discuss this?
Let me be very clear here. I'm *not* saying Zappers don't work. I'm just questioning the "traditional" explanations of why they do.
