Re: friend's situation
I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I wish I had some advice as to what went wrong -- because it really sounds like something terribly went wrong. I did a bit of research before my surgery (which I had on Wednesday) and never heard about a gallbladder falling apart. If the surgery is done properly, the GB is clamped while removing so bile is NOT released into the system.
I think I'm pretty lucky -- my surgery appears to have gone well. I'm having quite a bit of trunk pain, and I really have to watch what I eat. I "dumped" last night, and that was an awful feeling. Like folks who have gastric bypass and have more than a teaspoon of food - I started to sweat and shake. Not fun. Still on 500 mg. vicodin every 4 hours.
It sounds like her surgery isn't laproscopic if she has a tube and isn't home by now. My only advice as this point is when she does come home she will need to analzye everything that goes into her mouth. NO FATS! If she's on pain meds (which she will most likely be) have a few saltine crackers before consuming. Drink lots of water.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but can sympathize. You never know what it's going to be like until after -- no matter how many posts you read!
All the best,
Melanie
