Re: Bee Pollen Returns (Is This True)
I agree completely with the response that
FinallyFaith just posted.
I called my source of bee pollen, Beehive
Botanicals, and asked them if there were
any truth to that anti-pollen information
mentioned in the original post.
The woman I spoke with made a call to one
of the 400 individuals who supply them with
bee pollen. He told her that he does everything he can to maintain the health of
his bees; that it would make no sense to mutilate or kill them.
He said to picture the bees flying through
a doorway that has been reduced in size. There are brushes along the side, which brush
off the pollen when the bee returns to the hive. The pollen is collected below in sterile
containers.
The torture-chamber device described on that
website, may well be used by large, uncaring
producers of bee pollen. But it is not the
way small collectors gather pollen, to the best of my knowledge.
Regarding the rancid taste: I've NEVER had
any of my bee pollen go rancid. I store extra
bags in the fridg when possible, but I also
store them on the pantry shelf. I've had bags
of pollen sit for months in the heat of South
Florida, and it has never gone bad. Nor do i
find the taste unpleasant. Bee pollen has a
gentle, sweet flavor; a good taste.
I plan to keep eating it until Saint Peter
sounds his electronic pager for me.
Blessings,
Owen
