fledgling you saved my life!

Oh bless you, I read with tears in my eyes. It was like you spoke to the very core of my being.
When you come very close to death, it is a special experience, something profound. I wish I had the right words. In the years I have been doing this I have never once had a patient say " I am too young for this". It seems to me from what I have seen death is much harder on those that are to be left behind than for those that are passing on.
Last night I woke up and I thought about something that you actually said in your response. We all have our choices. It is amazing to see people choose when they die. I have full belief in that.
I went out last night to see a patient that had Alzheimer's disease. The daughter was extremely upset because her mother has pneumonia and was not taking her Antibiotics , nor eating much. I let the daughter vent and cry, and I sat there with this woman. She was so lovely. Soulful. She only spoke Hungarian as she had forgotten english, but she laughed joyously, and got up to dance with me, and gave me a kiss on the cheek and then I combed her hair. The moment was so special.
I then thought about choices. Maybe this woman has made a choice now to let go. The daughter has made a choice to treat her pnuemonia with Antibiotics . Maybe choices long ago caused the Alzheimers. I don't know. But all I can do is be there with their choices. I feel so much better about that. I don't feel so guilty.
I do read Kubler Ross, and I was amazed to find out she lived right down the street from me before her passing about six months ago. Thank you so much for your response. You really eased me, and made me feel better. I am going to go back to it when I feel my doubts.
