I would say everyone is much better off learning about the chakras (I mean real study, not just where they are) and the kundalini, before they go messing with these "quick fix" chakra openings. To open the third eye chakra while all the other chakras and you as a person is not completely ready is unsafe and nothing more than an ego game. As Boldyloxx said, if it can be done in the right spirit then it is fine, but one would wonder why you would want to do this without learning about what you are really doing? If you want to serve humanity there are many other ways. I am not saying third eye opening isn't good. It is fantastic, but it must be done under a very advanced teacher, or with a huge amount of study and purification and discipline, though this probably could not replace the guidance of a teacher. The third eye is just one chakra in your body, I see no reason to choose to open it first other than ego stuff. Especially seeing it is one of the high chakras which should be preceded by the cleansing and opening of the lower chakras.
I know personally 2 people who have serious mental illnesses and described their madness just like a kundalini experience. This is not an uncommon story and not something to be messed with. Asylums are full of kundalini experiences gone wrong. It makes me very sceptical of the person who wrote out those exercises! The ego loves the idea of being psychic! If you want to develop psychic powers and greater intelligence without risking your mental, emotional and physical health, just start with listening to your intuition. For one thing you intuition will guide you to what you need to be more psychic IF that is what God/Universal Energy wants for you. Intuition is the voice of God inside you in my opinion, and if you want to serve the world, then intuition will guide you in the manner that is most true for you, and therefore most helpful to the universe. It may be flipping burgers or feeding the poor or learning kundalini yoga, but the universe knows what is best for us, and we are all one, so regardless of our ego desires our intuition will always guide us in the best way. If we follow, we are free.
