I agree with some of what you are saying but I also know that our mental state can be a direct result of not feeding and caring for our bodies properly. God gave us this body and it is our responsiblility to nourish it.
Also we are not in control of some outside influences on our body such as chemicals that we intake. This is taking a toll on our bodies and how they operate. Creating an over abundance of estrogen in our systems and other abnormalities that result in depression, cancer,M.S,etc.
It is a struggle to maintain good health (or aquire it) as these things all work together either for us or against us.
