Re: Soooo hungry - feedback?

hey, if I may suggest . . . I would start by telling you that raw food is okay to "overeat" because it actually digests itself. The cool thing about raw fruits and vegetables is that they are alive. They have digestive enzymes which give your body everything that it needs and processes those nutrients for you. With that, they keep your own enzymes intact and keep you younger as well as healthier overall.

If you're hungry, then eat, eat, eat. Because if you're eating raw, you're good to go. Even raw fats are great. This includes things like avocados, olives, and even coconut oil.

If you're only doing a little raw fruit salad in the morning, when your body is used to processing large amounts of cooked and saturated foods, then it makes sense that you're hungry. You're body is not yet acclimated to the raw foods. . . So why eat light and deprive yourself while you're transitioning?

What do you have for lunch? Do you go back to a heavy and cooked meal plan for the rest of the day? These are things to consider. . . while you're trying raw, you may want to fill up on raw food and get a full feeling with your raw diet prior to eating more cooked crap. Try for balance and a solid metabolism with raw food.

My thing right now is Green Smoothies. It's all good because you get all the nutrients you need and then your body won't keep looking for the nutrients in your food (which doesn't usually have it anyway and even if it does, you won't assimilate those nutrients as well because of the lack of efficiency we've all developed in chewing with all the unhealthy processed "food" we consume). It's really great when you lose weight this way because you don't even have to stop eating what you want to eat. You drink these things and become satiated more easily, which means that you naturally eat less without having to exert any will power or self denial. And your body realizes that it's getting all the good stuff it needs so it's better able to let go of the excess fat energy it's storing for later and you'll have more accessible energy to do more exercise. Your skin, hair and nails will start to shine and take on a healthy glow after a short while too. You know, the thing with "dieting" in the stupid media-run culture is that everyone is dieting to look more healthy and what they're really doing is starving themselves and becoming more unhealthy so it's a bunch of %¤#&!§-.

there are many ways to create a tasty and healthy green smoothie. The most important thing to keep in mind here is that you want to put in your greens (i.e. some kale, lettuce, spinach or what have you) and you want to put in your fruit or fruits to sweeten the deal (i.e. mangos, bananas, blueberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, raspberries, or whatever you like) and you just add some water and blend, baby, blend.

So, my favorite smoothie ever that I found by just intuitively tossing in some good shit yesterday goes like this:

one mango
+ one banana
+ 4 or 5 strawberries
+ 4 leaves of kale
+ 4 leaves of romaine lettuce
+ a cup or two of water
____________________________

this should all yield about a quart (4 cups) of smoothie -- which is what you want to drink every day

I also really like smoothies with pineapple but I don't have a mixture off the top of my head for that one. Really though, you just have to keep trying new things and seeing what suits your taste buds best. If you come up with a great recipe, let me know what it is and I'll try it out too. Let me know if you're into it and how you're doing. Hope this helps! If you're into learning more, check out my friend Victoria Butenko's book "Green for Life" . . . http://www.rawfamily.com
