Could it have gone systemic?

Although I am no expert, I have seen it in places and felt compelled to mention it: some say that it is a good idea to always include anti-fungals in your regime when doing the special diet, to NOT just do the diet alone. Their reasonins is that if the candida aren't getting the foods they want and there are no anti-fungal products being taken to help kill them, then the candida "morph" into another form, or somehow burrow through the intestinal walls, and become even harder to get rid of. (Candida does have the ability to change into more virulent forms and enter the blood stream, sometimes this is called "going systemic")

If you havne't been taking anti-candida products during this diet, perhaps this is what happened...
