we have similar stories....

I have been complaining to doctors for years, first about the diffuculty of maintaining my weight even though I was eating about 1200 calories a day and walking 5 miles every night. The the athlete's foot and fungus on my ribs.

I have been going to an osteopath physican for my back problems and it was during one of our appointments that i started to ask him about why i was always cold... that question lead to him asking me a series of about 30 questions, all that I answered yes to.

He ran blood work and even though I fall in the commonly accepted normal ranges - he explained that it is possible the blood tests don't catch it. I also did a basal body temp study over the course of a month. We found that my average body temperature is 96.2 degrees!! (not the 98.6 that is supposed to be normal).

He started me on Armour Thyroid medication at a low dose. Within hours of taking it, a lot of my sypmtoms began to lessen. Over the course of the last 5 months we have been trying to get the amount of medication at the optimal levels. But let me tell you it has been a life saver so far! I can function like a normal human begin again and can now begin to address all these other health issues.

As I was rearching hypothriod problems online, I came across information on candida and was amazed at the drastic similarity of the symptoms as well! I dont know which came first, the chicken or the egg... but I do know that I have had a lot of the classic hypothyroid problems all my life (its called subclinical hypothyroidism) - no one ever picked up on it until I started asking questions and happened to be fortunate enough to have a very open minded osteopath treating me at the time for another issue.

My suggestion is to try to find an osteopath or nutritionist who is more open minded to not just excepting what is considered the norm, one who will treat you symptomatically like mine has. Once you do that, you can work on the candida.

I have found that as I work on cleaning my body out, that I have actually lowered the levels of the Armour Thyriod that I am currently taking.

Oh, and thyroid problems are not just regulated to women, it effects men and women alike.

I'd be happy to share the few things I have learned with you.
