Re: Hypothyroidism and Candida-- Confused!!?

Hi pev89,

I am hypothyroid with a host and a half of symptoms. I have been on thyroid meds for over twenty years. I can tell you that the TSH test is really a true farce in my diagnosis and being treated correctly. Just the sheer amount of symptoms alone should be a warning sign for diagnosis. But having the T3 test with the right type of Dr. reading the tests and understanding what to do is a great help. The true help for me was this and the basal temp.
And for me only the Armour thyroid helps, though does not cure.

You stated in your post that you were a "very unlikely" candidate for hypothroidism because you are an 18 year old male. But hypothyroidism runs in the females of your family. Let me assure you that being and 18 year old male has nothing to do with it. First it runs in the family. This makes it very likely to be in your line of life. Second this problem has always been considered a female problem. Usually but not always hitting women during or right after pregnancy. Some recover some never do. But men also suffer the same way. Some Drs. are beginning to realize this. My oldest son was diagnosed at 20. Treatment helped to alter the supposed bi-polar diagnosis he had been treated for.

I have read as you have about hypothroid causing the candida, but wonder if it could be the other way around. At 13 I began having a series of severe tonsilitis and basically lived on Antibiotics the rest of my teenage life until at the age of 18 I had them taken out. Antibiotics cause the death of millions of good bacteria and flora in our systems aloowing the candida to grow out of control. So does drinking chlorinated and flouridated water. Both chlorine and flouride can harm the thyroid and cause cancer. Processed foods also.

I don't believe hypothyroid is "hereditary" but we learn from our life experiences to eat and drink the wrong things causing unknown stressess as to our bodies.

And as betta stated in the previous answer to your post, heavy metal poisoning especially from Amalgam (mercury) fillings in your teeth have a lot to do with thyroid disfunction. Fixing just the th yroid or just the candida will not help. Instead we have to focus on the entire body. If we don't we are fighting a losing battle.

You have come to a great site aimed at helping you to work on just that. I am posting a few links to help you start your learning process. Two for curezone cleanig and one great article on thyroid. Keeping searching and learning and find you a DR. who will help you with this thyroid issuse. Most want to only test the TSH and prescribe Synthroid or related meds. They are only T4 meds. We need T0, T1,T2,T3, and T4. All found in Armour Thyroid Medicine. The thyroid link has a great amount of information and lots of links.

Please don't put of testing and treating for this just because you are male. Women are already missed diagnosed and under treated and very sickly sad unhappy patients and men are the same, mostly because it is considered a womens disease.

Nothing is a quick fix. Curezone is aimed at long time "life" changing and long time "life" maintenance for a messed up world.

Best to your on your journey to better health.
