Re: Barrier to raw
Thanks for your reply! I realize I'm not eating as much as I should, in terms of vegetables and even fruit. There are many reasons for this, the most prominent of them being that I never feel like eating in the morning. I have tried to make myself, but I really do have an "oh yuck" response, and I don't feel it's good to force it. So then I go to work, where I can't eat for 5 hours or so.. then at lunchtime I am ravenous. We are allowed to eat packaged snacks and people routinely carry around pretzels, but lugging a tub of raw veggies and messy fruit around is another issue entirely. Another thing is that I really do not have a taste for raw vegetables. I never have, with the exception of okra and sometimes carrots. The rest of them I have to cook to be able to eat them without grossing out. You can only steam so many veggies at one time and store them for so long-- so as a consequence I end up eating mostly fruit, which requires little preparation. I know eating fresh fruit is best, but I am in an area right now where there is not alot of good tasting fruit in the markets, and it is VERY expensive. So I eat canned pears and peaches also.
I do get exercise, though not enough. I walk about 45 minutes a day, to and from work and I stretch all the time. We are moving soon and I will be able to go outside again where it's safe, but that is a month and a half away.. and I'd really like to make the major changes before then. I am very encouraged with my progress so far and am eager to continue. I would like to fast every other day as well... the longer fasts don't seem to agree with me yet.
