Re: The Lord is not partisan (for an elite only), He is "IAM".
Hello tomi444,
I grew up as an idealist (loving what is good and right and true, not just PREFERRING it, but LONGING for and admiring what is good and right and true). Good and right and true are God's ways (God is light, and Ephesians 5:8 tells us we are to walk as children of light, verse 9 tells us where the fruit of light is found. "Christianity" is a word that can be used to refer to different things,...an organized school of thought and devotion to the Creator is probably the most accurate I could come with in less than 25 words, but, it's that ORGANIZED THOUGHT part and that each person's devotion should be uniform and standard that is the trouble. "Christianity" is also loosely defined in society and has a 'status quo' of it's own. We are taught to think of our relationship with Him as personal, but we are also taught to somehow exclude 'SELF' (it is the ABUSE of SELF, as in self-ISH that is bad, and, even then, not always because sometimes you have to claim your rights). We are taught to love Him AND FEAR????? HIM. When I was growing up, I could fear doing something wrong, fear getting caught and fear being punished, but I would always love my father and accepted my correction as JUST (justice, correction, discipline), not punitive retribution or vengeance. As of this moment, The Creator has roughly six and a half BILLION people to consider, but it is the responsibility of those who love Him to make Him meaningful in their lives so that the PERSONAL relationship becomes a personal journey WITH (dynamic, not stagnant, not simply TO) Him. I am a child of divorce and the Lord is the ideal parent who has never betrayed me and never will. He has become very meaningful (Father to the fatherless) in my life and I am (one of many) His 'Danny boy'. My devotion to Him is VERY personal and a journey that I cherish, but I am sorry to say that it is not the same with my brethren, for they do it (devotion) 'by the book'. I would like to think that I am too cynical about that, but if I were, unbelievers wouldn't stay away from Jesus.
