Re: Is this panic/anxiety attacks? And what do I do to correct problem?

it may help you to know you have the classic symptoms of anxiety and depression, the two usually occur together, the racing heart is usually what happens during a panic attack. Your diet, especially caffiene, may make your anxiety and Depression worse and to some extent can be illeviated by altering your diet. This may be sufficent for you, but it is most likely you need cognitive behavioural therapy which is very hard to get as most health care practioners do not fully understand this type of anxiety. there are audio tapes you can listen to which you can download for free which will address exactly the issue of anxiety and depression.

there are different levels of anxiety ranging from not wanting to leave the house to milder forms of generalised anxiety but symptoms usually include all or some of the following.

- racing/pounding heart when you feel anxious about something
- worrying what others are thinking about you/worrying all the time about anything
- thinking that people are judging your actions
- wanting things to be perfect
- being overly nice to people, attempting to please everyone, so people like you
- having lots of negative thoughts
- lots of what if thinking, i.e. what if this happens, what if that happens
- having obsessive scary thoughts, i.e you have thoughts about doing harm to yourself or someone else even thou you know you never would
- people take advantage of you because you do not stand up for yourself

these are some symptoms, but the good news is that anxiety and Depression can be very effectively treated by cognitive behavioural therapy, which basically involves listening to a few audio cassettes which i can tell you how to get for free. You can try going to a doctor but it is mostly likely they will put you on medication which ultimately will not help you. To start with you can reduced and eliminate caffine and soda drinks as these makes anxiety worse, however expect caffine withdrawal as it leaves you system which may last for a few weeks depending on your level of intake.
