Re: Shadowalker...
you're right about "Richard"... he certainly has a way about him of being able to put his words together in such a manner that seems to prove most affective... yet you too... have a very descriptive flare in your way of describing your feelings...
"like a big hug in the middle of a battlefield"...
that immediately "made flash bulbs go off in my head"... and brought to mind the way i felt about one of the first meetings i ever attended... especially one group in particualar... which was comprised mostly of guys that worked at the same place i did... i remember clearly a very unusual feeling... a very distinct warm/fuzzy feeling... "a safe feeling"... (very much like a ship that had been battered around for a long time by the storms at the sea... and had found shelter... if only for a brief period)...
hope you do overcome your reluctance about AA... (you certainly do have a lot to offer)... keep looking around until you find a meeting you feel comfortable with... and when you do you will probably discover that you'll feel comfortable in any of them wherever you go... because by that time you will have gradually grown to feel comfortable within your own skin... as you discover more an more that you're not alone...
as my old buddie "Mr. Rogers" use to say...
"it's a wonderful day in the neighborhood boys and girls"...
