This plan is more doable than any diet I've tried. I am far from perfect, one day I went to my favorite shop and wound up eating Amish potato salad and Colby-Jack cheese all day long. It was what I was craving. Still, over time if you keep focused on the plan and try to focus on the fruits and veggies first, you can stay pretty close. After a lifetime of trying different diets and failing miserably, the 80-10-10 plan works because we can have anything we want, just not all the time. I can't imagine living without cheese or chocolate for the rest of my life. Knowing they are allowed when I really, really want them helps me say "no thanks" most of the time. For me it has helped cut out a lot of my emotional binge eating and junk food runs to the nearest town nearly 10 miles away.
