Re: Herbert Shelton and his experience
I've tried both of those in the past but o didn't find them helpful, even if in a context of fasting the thing is probably different. At day 12, when i hope the worst has passed i'm now confident in the ability of the body to act to balance the microbiome. Since we are talking about toxins and dysbiosis... As bacteria starve, they will try to feed on something else and should end to fight the immune system, which will "win" if one has not a depressed immune system.
Also, i've read that when bacteria are all by themselves they tend to attack each other, resulting in a final diminished bacterial population; if the immune system works correctly, these final bacteria will be the non pathogenic ones.
Same thing should happen for SIBO bacteria.
I'm confident the body will naturally proceed in its best interests but if i have to give a suggestion: follow a liquid or semi-liquid diet before the fasting!
What lead me to do this fasting was probably the occurrence of a binge meal, and while i thank the decision of that day, i've learned that it was a very poor way to start a water fasting!
