Re: Criticism and the possibility of judgement from people is holding me back...
I can relate to this; i'm on my first long
Water Fasting (now day 11) and that of collateral social implications is one of my main concerns. Though, after some days on the fasting, i've lost much of the worry i had for other people's opinions. Not that i don't care, but i care much less. Yet in my case i live alone while you have daily meal habits with your friends, meaning they will bother you more.
I can suggest you two ways: 1) you stand on your correct believings and prepare to hear a lot of false facts and judgemental opinions 2) you find a way to miss meal occasions, like you say them you dine outside at a canteen, or with other friends you met, or that you eat at a different hour.
Unfortunately fasting, which has always been a natural thing for the human body is not accepted in the modern society. People is not accostumed to it, and false claims are made since we are children... there is a very little chance to change people's mind, they have to prove them on theirself, and this often happen for health reasons and not for logical deduction (which still would lead to know that fasting is good for the body).
Good luck
