Re: QUESTION: Professor - WHY did you bother?
It is a real shame indeed, if the eye profession really refuses to study, develop or release treatments that could end up in curing cataracts without surgery...I agree on that, but I am not certain - as you seem to be - that it is so...
In my own attempts to heal my cataracts, I have tried many things, starting with nutrition, eyesight improvement methods, complements, Dr. Bates methods, palming, sunning, eyes relaxation, vitamins, homeopathy and so on...I've had some results, but never anything clearly outstanding : results have been more in slowing down or stopping the damn thing's progression than in reversing it, and clearly obvious mainly - or only ?- after stopping all treatments and seeing it worsening again...
I would agree that I've been very rarely helped by ophthalmologists, and much more often discouraged by a huge majority of them...
But I've made up my mind that it's not an easy thing to cure cataracts, and ended up thinking that surgery may very well be the least bad - or better - known solution so far...(though I would have liked to meet more help and understanding for sure, and still dislike its whole idea for some unclear reason - whereas I wouldn't mind surgery anywhere else when needed !?)...
I like what you say about doctors dismissing their humanitarian commitments, even maybe admire it, but I wouldn't go blind on it hopefully ! I tend to think you'd be better off as a searcher maybe, solving that horrible damn bad thing I'd say, as you have studied it very seriously it seems...
Best of luck. Bernie
