Crusts off with coconut oil lip balm

//www.curezone.org/upload/_O_P_Forums/Peeling_Lips/20170120_050720_01.jpeg

I applied a lip balm with coconut oil yesterday because the very thick, almost nails-like scabs weren't peeling at all, and didn't seem to be getting any more layers underneath. Not sure if it was a terrible move, but almost all the crusts came off today. I didn't rub them at all, not even lightly. I took the balm off very carefully after waking up. Some areas were already coming off, so I trimmed them. When I washed my face, the scabs first hung off, then came off completely with no touching or rubbing, just water splashes. Right now I seem to have a layer, and hopefully it won't peel or crust up as quickly as usual. I'm not using any lip balm right now.
