Re: Severe reaction to probiotic
Candida die off and Chelated Molybdenum
The SCD Low and Slow Method for introducing Probiotics.
This is quoted from SCD,
It is easiest to start with a probiotic that is in capsule form, where each capsule is equivalent to 3 billion cfus.
Mix 1 capsule with 1/4 cup of water, until the mixture is well mixed. This will be known as the probiotic mixture.
Measure out 1 TBSP of the probiotic mixture.
By starting at this level you will be administering approx 750 million cells of probiotic. Once that level is tolerated increase the amount of probiotic mixture to 2 TBSP. Once that is tolerated increase to 3 TBSP. Then increase to 4 TBSP. At that point you will be taking 3 billion CFU.
If you can't tolerate 1 TBSP of the probiotic mixture then you should start with1/8 of a teaspoon of the mixture or even smaller.
There is also a subgroup of people who can't tolerate any probiotics during the first months of SCD.
The probiotic mixture should be thrown away after a while.
Obviously this applies to the SCD Diet but Elaine's point is clear that probiotics can be introduced slowly and may not suit everyone.
