Been there. and we were scared too. The infectious disease specialist was nice, but dismissed us after the stool and sputum test were negative.
In desperation we took a small dose of Praziquantel about 100mg from the pet store, with a dose of ivomec from Amazon. the combination was enough to start killing the tapeworm. My brave wife took segemts of the the Tapeworm and some photos to her here primary care doctor. She was comfortable making the diagnosis from the pictures along and did not want to see what was in her her purse : )
The Doc prescribled a large dose of Praziquantel (1500 mg) for everyone in the house, 600 mg for my youngest child. it then took 3-4 weeks to pass the remainder of the tape .
We thought there were likely other types of worms in us, so we self prescribed more Ivomec (ivermectin) and take a monthly dose of 1 ml of the injectable (taken orally or topically).
