Re: Adding Nystatin Enema to the routine

Thank you Frosty. Your posts are always useful. Yeah, I never even bothered with that dumb spit test. Though I have felt strongly it had to be candida, I agree it is good to have stronger proof. Remove the guesswork and know I'm not just running in circles.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the die-off. Helps put me at ease I'm doing the right thing and it's all worth it. I still have a ton of gas. I did finally eat today, a small amount of jasmine rice with sardines and spinach. Topped with garlic and ACV. There is a lot of conflicting info as to using any carb at all, and if so, is complex vs simple better. My personal belief is that if your candida has been more or less battled back to the colon, jasmine rice is OK in small amounts if you NEED a carb as it is absorbed very rapidly up in the small intestine. Brown rice would be the mistake here. Lots of resources disagree however. Of course I have no way of gauging symptoms from this food because I am already dealing with a ton of gas from die off that still hasn't gone away.

Interestingly I didn't get sick after the nystatin today. Both enema and oral at the same time produced no headache, brain fog, allergies etc. and it's been hours since then. A few weeks ago I felt like crap almost every day and could hardly work. I felt my adrenals were shutting down even. Since then I've used lemon water/milk thistle/thyroid support pills with iodine/glutathione. I somewhat expected my liver to be sore again but it didn't happen now. Perhaps the greater bulk of the candida toxins have been cleared and the first dose of oral nystatin mopped up the vestiges.

It is slightly alarming that the second day, nystatin is producing no die-off symptoms. In fact I feel pretty clear, more than usual...more than before I developed this problem. Cautiously optimistic it's just working very rapidly. Only the back of my tongue is white. Just damn...so much gas lol.

I have galactomune and I'm using that because it is easier to get. I'm not yet aware of a non-prescription source for lactulose. It sounds to me like you believe galactomune is good but just aren't as confident in it as lactolose. Do you think coming up with it is worth the potential trouble? I am loathe to waste more time/money talking to my GI.

I saw Dvjorge's post about the S. Boulardii. Most interesting. Weeks ago I got a dieoff flare from taking the stuff orally. I have a lot of remaining as well as S. Coagulans. Of course I must save it for when I'm done with nystatin. I like that I can take LAB and nystatin at the same time. Truly...LAB, nystatin and a prebiotic like lactulose/galactomune just sounds like a candida terror cocktail. I will switch from nystatin to saccharomyces when I either lose the gas or run out of nystatin...whichever comes first. I must say even if all my symptoms resolve totally I'll be taking a probiotic daily the rest of my life. Ironically, while treating myself for all this I've had times my digestion and overall health were better than before I caught the bug.

I was unaware that onion was a prebiotic that might feed candida. Here I am eating lots of raw red onion in salads. May be a mistake.

Great insight on the reduced water! Thanks for the study.

I am unsure about the enzymes and probiotics. Many enzymes are harmful to bacteria. Nystatin works by binding to and removing part of candida's cell wall, exposing it and leading to K+ (potassium) leakage and death of the cell. So if nystatin is available, it may be a safer-than-enzymes alternative to the bacteria, and achieve a similar result.
